A blog for an eTwining project "Readers Without Borders"

My students and I carried out the last part of the project nearly three weeks ago. When I told my students that we were going to fulfill a charity event,they got excited. We wanted to collect and read books for children who live in orphanage. My students began to collect story books for children who are below 7. They make an announcement at school to collect more story books. They also saved money to buy new things like crayons, play dough, coloring books etc.
They prepared everything with a great enthusiasm. I and my 20 students got on a school bus and went to the instutition for children between 0-18. These children live there because they are homless or they have to live there because of a family reason. It doesn't matter for us because they are the same for us because they need interest. Anyway, we spent about two hours there. My students gave what they took for them. They read stories. They played games with them. Sorry, but we couldn't take any photos of the children or the instutition because of their privacy. But we took our photos before we go there. You can see how my students were excited before they went there.
To realize one of the steps of the project Readers Without Borders.We organized two activities and hung up the posters.Our students are working on the project.
1.We launched a book campaign with a motto "Be A Hope to the Children" we have gathered 4 parcels already we will send a school which is in Balikesir territory 6 hours far from Istanbul and its conditions are inadaquate and poor. We will go on till the 31th of May the take them to that school.
2.With a motto "Be the Voice of The Books".We organized an activity which is reading books for the blind people.We are content to see many students are eager to be involved in the project.The students started to record the books we will share them on YouTube.
I see that my students are very enthusiastic with the project works which make me very happy.
